I Indien er hærkirurgen Dr. Warren udstationeret, og han forsømmer sin kone, Alice, som i stedet finder glæde i kaptajnen Richard Alstons selskab. Dr. Warrens mistanker vækkes, men han sendes på en mission og efterlader konen. Efter kontakt med et sygt barn rammes Alston af den infektion Dr. Warren er sendt væk for at behandle. Alston kommer i bedring men konen skal stå til regnskab og vælge mellem de to.
