Kate Armstrong er mesterkok på en af de fineste restauranter på Manhattan. Hele hendes liv drejer sig kun om at lave den bedste mad i New York. Hendes liv bliver vendt op og ned, da hendes søster pludselig dør, og hun må tage sig af sin efterladte niece, samtidig med at en ny sous-chef Nick bliver ansat på restauranten.
