Producer. Born 18/3 1973. Graduated from the producing programme at The National Film School of Denmark in 2001 and has since worked as a producer at Zentropa. Vesth also holds a BA in economics.
Louise Vesth's first feature was Pia Bovin's 'Wallah be' (2002), one of several children's and youth films that Vesth produced in the beginning of her career, including Christian E. Christiansen's Oscar-nominated short 'At Night' and Anders Morgenthaler's 'Echo' (2007). During that time, she was also producer on the successful TV show 'Clown' (2005-09) and later the feature 'Klown' (2010), which became the biggest box-office hit in Denmark in 2010.
Louise Vesth has had long term collaborations with directors like Christian E. Christiansen, Mikkel Nørgaard, Nikolaj Arcel, Anders Rønnow Klarlund and Lars von Trier. She produced Nikolaj Arcel's 'A Royal Affair' (2012), which was nominated for an Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, the adaptations of Jussi Adler Olsen's Department Q trilogy, 'The Keeper of Lost Causes' (2013), 'The Absent One' (2014), 'A Conspiracy of Faith' (2016) and 'The Purity of Vengeance' (2018). She has been Lars von Trier's regular producer since 'Melancholia' (2011).
International film productions have always had Louise Vesth's great interest, both in terms of funding and distribution. It challenges her professional skills, but at the same time, she sees it as his job to keep hold herself and the director to the film's original idea, when all the practical details and decisions arise. She manages to combine the commercial with the artistic and is keen to work with the younger generation of directors.
In 2008, Louise Vesth became a board member at Zentropa. In the same year, she represented Denmark as one of the European 'Producers on the Move' at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2012, she and Zentropa producer colleague Sisse Graum Jørgensen received Erik Balling's Travelling Grant.
