Instruktør Jannik Johansens debutfilm 'Rembrandt' trak mange mennesker i biografen i 2003. I oktober 2005 blev den fulgt op af gyseren 'Mørke'. Jacobs (Nikolaj Lie Kaas) handicappede søster begår selvmord på sin bryllupsnat. Da det er lidt usædvanligt, beslutter Jacob sig for at efterforske sagen nærmere. Han opsøger sin tidligere svoger Anker (Nicolas Bro) i byen Mørke og finder ud af, at han igen skal giftes med en handicappet pige.
