VFX Supervisor. Born 29/11 1970.
Hjorth began working in the film industry through the Danish TV-channel Kanal 2. Soon after he began working on commercials for Minerva Film and Easy Film. He was subsequently hired as VFX supervisor at the production company Zentropa, but broke off into his own VFX-company Gearless.
At Zentropa, Hjorth began a long-standing collaboration with Lars von Trier. He was the technical director on 'Dancer in the Dark' (2000) and soon became known as Triers "technical hand", working as a VFX Supervisor on 'Dogville' (2003), 'Manderlay' (2005), 'Antichrist' (2009), 'Melancholia' (2011), 'Nymphomaniac' (2013) and most recently 'The House That Jack Built' (2018). He also helped develop the Automavision technique used for 'The Boss of It All' (2006).
Hjorth has also worked with several other prominent Danish directors such as Thomas Vinterberg, Anders Thomas Jensen, Susanne Bier, Nikolaj Arcel and Nicolas Winding Refn.
In 2018 he was awarded the prize for Best Visual Effects for Ali Abbasi's 'Border' at the European Film Awards.
