Martin Schmidt fortsætter sin gyser-stime, som udover det seneste bidrag tæller 'Sidste time', 'Mørkeleg' og 'Kat'. I 'Bag det stille ydre' flytter Signe (Anne Birgitte Lind) og Tommy (Jakob Cedergren) ind i et stort, gammelt og charmerende hus sammen med deres lille datter. Det viser sig dog, at huset er hjemsøgt og spiller en vigtig rolle i forbindelse med en række uopklarede mord for tre år siden.
